After graduating from Mount Holyoke College, I dedicated my working life to improving the operations of small non-profits. My experience has centered on learning the big picture by being involved in many details. As technology advanced, I kept my organizations moving forward by finding ways to make them more efficient. With my problem-solving and research skills, I streamlined multiple systems so the mission could continue to be the focus.
For twenty-two years at Mass Humanities in multiple positions, I led the way to more sophisticated websites, databases, and grant application processes. I transitioned the grant-making organization from accepting numerous paper copies of grant proposals to an online grant management system that streamlined the approval process and was intuitive to the applicant. I spearheaded the overhaul of the employee handbook that brought the organization into compliance with state and federal laws. The retooled handbook provided much-needed clarity to the staff and management. I reimagined the employee evaluation system, enhancing its effectiveness for the supervisor and supervisee. When the software company that developed the database went out of business, I collaborated with colleagues from multiple states to find the best solution. I then implemented the switch and facilitated the migration of our data into the new CRM.
As a consultant, I have helped organizations:
My problem-solving and system-wide thinking helps organizations work smarter, not harder, and frees them to focus on their mission and move the mission forward.
